Digital Advertising Opportunities with Silverlight Video Did you know that even before Silverlight 1.0 was officially released that the International Association of Broadcasters had made it part of the official release of “Digital Video In-Stream Ad Format & Best Practices Guidelines" for Digital Video Advertising? The formats include: Linear Video, Non-Linear Video, and Companion formats. The recommendations now include best practices for use with Silverlight and their new (.XAP) streaming formats. This among other reasons have launched Silverlight into the mainstream for Digital Advertising, and keeps popping up in Silverlight coverage of events such as the Olympics and the DNC. We will take a look at some of these advertising formats and your opportunites to partner and provide advertising to these new exciting digital markets. Everyone is getting into the game and even companies like Google have recently been involved in advertising placement in these markets.

We will look into how companies like Move Networks, DoubleClick, and Microsoft Digital Advertising are forging ahead to make these opportunities economically adventageous to you.

Flash 3D: A Different Kind of 3D The single, biggest problem for 3D usage in Flash is that a true 3D engine does not behave in ways an average Flash programmer would expect or want. Introducing Elemental 4D, an engine that allows for ease of 3D programming in Flash. While not the first flash-specific 3D engine, Elemental 4D does operate on principals that make it unique.  While other 3D engines based off of video game and 3D graphics programming, Elemental 4D is completely oriented towards usable and practical application in new media, manipulating standard Flash objects in ways predictable to a normal 2D designer or developer, and keeping all standard properties, methods, and events. Elemental 4D even allows 3D scenes to be set up on Flash's visual stage. Bryan Grezeszak
